My research interests focus on the Upper and Late Palaeolithic of Northwest Europe and prehistoric technology in general. Following the palethnographic approach, which integrates different sub-systems of human societies into one research perspective, I particularly apply the technological method to lithic artefacts and combine the results with data obtained by other archaeological as well as by palaeoenvironmental methods. The focus of my studies lies on the techno-economic trajectories and interregional relationships of hunter-gatherer groups in the context of profound environmental changes during the Lateglacial and the Early Holocene, with special emphasis on Northern Germany and the Paris Basin.
